About the backstory
How the idea for “Rising Up Again” came about
We all know that we can’t be on the sunny side every day, both professionally and personally. Along with many moments of success and happiness, there are also low points in life.
Maybe you have already experienced a situation like this. The effects can sometimes be quite drastic and even turn our usual lives upside down.
Over the decades, I’ve experienced my strokes of fate — whether it was the abrupt end to my professional sports career as a teenager, surviving the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, or separating from loved ones in my family.
Believe me, it was pretty tough at times. On some days, I had the feeling that I couldn’t go on. Nevertheless, I pushed on.
Giving up is not an option
Although some of my experiences remain unforgettable, each one was an invaluable lesson.
Along the way, I’ve learned the importance of resilience, adaptability, and perseverance — and how little school, studies, or our environment can prepare us for drastic life situations.
However, giving up was never an option.
Following this attitude, I’d like to share the insights I’ve gained with other people.
Grow beyond yourself
Creating something new out of a crisis is exhausting. Suddenly, everything can fall away you’ve believed in and built up for many years. That can even lead to self-doubt.
Never get discouraged
If you’re determined to realize your life ideas and accept the challenges that come with it, three things are critical:
- Define your values
- Set yourself clear goals
- Act with ease
The road to a fulfilling life involves ups and downs. Move forward consistently. There is more to you than you think.
